The nails and stainless steel bail (the loop the chain passes through) are then resistance welded together to form a strong, monolithic body. Nearly 6 inches of solid 14k yellow gold wire is used to create the wrapping at the top, center and bottom of each cross. The loose ends of the wire wraps are secured with a special, high-strength lead-free solder specially forumulated for the jewelry industry. Nearly all the facets of the construction of this beautiful, high quality cross are done by hand, allowing the constant evaluation of the quality of each operation, and the materials being used. The 18" 14K solid yellow gold chain supplied with the cross is a double rope link design, complimentary with cross. What better symbolism than nails to denote the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.
